ELANA FOGEL
My name is Elana Peri Fogel. I was born and raised in the city of San Francisco and have lived in the same little house at the top of a hill on 26th street my whole life. It's just me, my mom, my dad and my dog Lanie, who sometimes gets more attention than I do. I don't have any siblings but have filled that void with dogs and friends who are featured throughout this portfolio.
Writing is crucial to all aspects of our academic, professional and personal lives. While there's no guarantee you'll ever have to solve a quadratic of list all the Presidents after graduating college, you will most definitely find yourself writing in some capacity. Therefore I felt that spending time focusing on writing would enrich my academic experience in a way that will translate outside of just my undergraduate degree. I joined the Minor in Writing program to develop my voice and gain practical writing skills that I'll be able to utilize in future writing pursuits. This website is home to my work from the Introduction to the Minor in Writing course including an piece on my motives for writing, along with a remediation and a repurposing of a previous piece of writing. Currently I am 20-years-old and a Junior at the University of Michigan, majoring in Communications Studies with a Minor in Writing. In first grade on career day I dressed up as a dog walker but have since shifted to an only slightly more realistic dream of working in the behind-the-scenes of the entertainment / media industries.
